Kenai Fjords
National Park

Established in 1980, Kenai Fjords National Park spans over 669,000 acres on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula, with more than half of its landscape, about 51%, covered in ice.

The park features a stunning mix of fjords, towering mountains, dense forests, abundant wildlife both on land and at sea, dozens of glaciers, and the impressive Harding Icefield—the largest ice field located entirely within the United States. It’s a place that truly captures the wild beauty and essence of Alaska, all in one incredible destination.

Kenai Fjords At a Glance

Kenai Fjords National Park is completely free to visit.

Kenai Fjords National Park is one of Alaska’s eight national parks, and is the easiest to get to. And to get there, you’ll first need to head to the charming seaside town of Seward, Alaska.

Seward is on the southeastern side of the Kenai Peninsula and is accessed by a scenic train ride, cruise ship, or the Seward Highway (AK-9), which is about a 2.5 hour drive from Anchorage. We recommend flying here!

Reservations are not required to enter the park. However, we highly recommend making tour reservations in advance.

The best time to visit Kenai Fjords National Park is between June-August. This is when tours will be up and running and the trails will be (mostly) snow free.
