Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park is one of two national parks in the state of Hawai‘i and is located on the Big Island, which is home to five volcanoes in total. The park itself contains two of the most active volcanoes on Earth: Kīlauea and Mauna Loa.
The park’s elevation ranges from sea level all the way up to the summit of Mauna Loa at 13,677 feet, which holds the title of the largest volcano in the world by volume.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is located in the Southeastern part of the island of Hawaii, typically referred to as the Big Island. It’s in a region called Puna, right by the appropriately named town of Volcano. You can fly into either Kailua-Kona (2 hours) or Hilo (45 minutes).
The park is accessible year round, so you can plan your visit any time, the weather is beautiful all year long. However, what you will see in the park depends on volcano activity, so check the current conditions before your visit.
Reservations are not required to enter the park.
