National Park
A visit to Arches National Park feels like stepping into a moment frozen in time. With over 2,000 arches in the park, created over millions of years, these unique formations could disappear in an instant. It’s amazing to see them now and think about how they’ll change for future generations.
The arches form when layers of sandstone rise up, crack in parallel lines, and slowly wear away. Rainwater gets into the cracks, freezing in winter and breaking off pieces of sandstone. Over time, small holes grow into fins, and with more erosion, these fins turn into arches.
