Vietnam can be visited any time of year. However, different regions of the country experience different types of climates and weather patterns, which we outline in this eBook.

If we had to decide a timeframe for you, we’d suggest the late winter or early spring, which is when we went. The weather was pleasant and warm our entire trip, with minimal rain.

Vietnam is a very affordable country to visit. Many of the accommodations we recommend in this guide are less than $50 USD per night, but you can easily find cheaper options too. Transportation and activities are much less expensive than North America or Europe.

As for food, we mostly suggest street food or casual dining spots in this guide, which will be anywhere from a few bucks to $10 USD (for most spots). Your biggest expense will be getting to Vietnam itself.

If you follow all of our suggestions in this guide, you’ll be doing lots of walking, some hiking, and potentially driving or riding on the back of motorbikes. As well as tackling a multiday cave tour, which requires a good level of physical fitness, as there is some ladder climbing, swimming, jumping, and some squeezing through tighter spaces.
