There are over 6,000 cenotes on the Yucatán Penin There are over 6,000 cenotes on the Yucatán Peninsula, which are natural swimming holes that come in three forms: completely covered, semi open, and open, as well as in different shapes, sizes, and colors.

Cenotes were sacred ceremonial spaces for Mayans, who believed that they were a passageway to the underworld and they are now popular swimming holes for both locals and tourists.

And for our first of two day trips from Mérida we booked a tour through @airbnbexperiences with @cenotesmerida to go check out a couple for ourselves, which you can see in today’s video!

Have you swam in a cenote before?
One of our favorite ways to experience a new place One of our favorite ways to experience a new place is through its FOOD! And both Mérida and the Yucatán Peninsula as a whole are known for having some unique food items, many of which have Mayan influences.

We spent a few days going on the ultimate Mérida food tour, with the goal of trying as many Yucatán dishes as possible and successfully tried 12 different items 🙌🏼 And many of them were unlike anything we had ever had before!

Here’s a quick list of what we tried and where, but to learn more about the dishes and what we thought about them, check out today’s video! And if you missed our warning at the end of our last video, don’t watch this one hungry 🤪

🇲🇽 Salbutes, Panuchos, and Relleno Negro at Taqueria La Lupita (They also have amazing cochinita pibil!)

🇲🇽 Kibis just outside of Mercado Lucas de Galvez

🇲🇽 Sopa de Lima, Queso Relleno, and Cochinita Pibil at @elmanjarblanco_

🇲🇽 Castacan tacos + tortas at Wayan’e

🇲🇽 Papadzules and Poc Chuc at @lachayamaya (go to their Casona location!)

🇲🇽 Huevos Motuleños at Maiz, Canela y Cilantro (open only on the weekends!)

🇲🇽 Marquesitas: you can find these at stands around town! We tried them at two spots and our favorite was “Venta de Marquesitas” on Google Maps on Calle 60, which is a different one than we show in this video.
Mérida is known for its Mayan history and colonia Mérida is known for its Mayan history and colonial architecture and one of our favorite things to do here is to just walk around and see the buildings!

Before Mérida was established as a city in 1542, it was once home to 5 Mayan pyramids, which were destroyed and their ruins were used to build many of the buildings around Plaza Grande, including the stunning Catedral de San Ildefonso (the oldest cathedral in the America’s)!

There are also so many colorful homes and buildings on just about any street. And along Paseo de Montejo, which is a road named after the founder of Mérida and inspired by the French Boulevard, you can find a bunch of gorgeous mansions. Some of these are museums too!
Hola from Mérida, Mexico! 🇲🇽 If you missed Hola from Mérida, Mexico! 🇲🇽 If you missed our last video we flew from Austin to Mérida for two weeks!

Mérida is located on Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula and is the capital of the Yucatán State. It’s also said to be the safest city in Mexico! We’ve been here for over a week now and have been loving every second and our first video from our time here is now LIVE!

We spent part of a day walking around the city, seeing some of its architecture, eating delicious food and sweet treats, and sharing some of its history. This is such a beautiful and vibrant city and we are so excited to share it with you!

PS: make sure to check out our stories from Mérida! We are sharing more behind the scenes from the trip, including spots that won’t be shared on YouTube.
📸 Some snapshots from our time home! We got ba 📸 Some snapshots from our time home!

We got back to Texas a little over two months ago and have spent most of our time working (which we truly enjoy, especially when we can stay put to do so!), but also enjoying time with family and friends all around Texas, DC, and Indiana, going on daily walks with Kona (and having lots of playtime!), working out consistently, making some big van upgrades (that we will share in a few months!), and trying to rest a bit.

If we’re being honest, we were running on empty basically all of last year. Between the constant logistics of van life, nonstop travel planning, long days of filming, late nights editing and working on other tasks, and the pressure that comes from self employment and this social media space in general, our mental, physical, and emotional health were in the 🗑 by the time we made it back to Texas. While we had a BLAST this past year getting to explore some amazing places and are extremely grateful that traveling is our job, it wasn’t without a lot of harder moments behind the scenes.

Our goal for this next year is to focus more on us and less on trying to do as much as possible and create as much content as possible, which is a quick road to burnout. While there will be lots of videos and content to come, we want the moments behind the scenes to be as joyful as the moments on camera, which means doing LESS at times so we can enjoy it MORE.

With that said, we aren’t feeling quite ready to fully travel again, so we have decided to go on a 2 week workcation (a trip where we mostly work, but have a little bit of fun!) to a nearby country that we have visited before. We rented an awesome Airbnb and have a handful of fun days planned, but we mostly will be spending our time trying to continue finishing work from 2022 (plus enjoy some poolside relaxation 😎)!

We hope this is the start of a more balanced 2023 and we can’t wait to share where we are headed with y’all soon! 🙌🏼
It’s time to head back to Texas! Well…if you h It’s time to head back to Texas! Well…if you have been following along on Instagram, you probably know we have been back for over a month 😉, but in YouTube world, it’s time to head back!

And in today’s video we conclude our 10 insanely epic months on the road and make it back home. It’s a short video, but instead of rushing straight back to Austin we tried to enjoy a couple spots along the way, including visiting a place we have always wanted to go to, Caddo Lake, which is a lake full of gorgeous cypress trees that is a ton of fun to canoe on (our first time canoeing)! 🛶

And of course we couldn’t cross back into Texas without getting some Texas BBQ (is there any better welcome home gift than that?!) 😋

While this may end our adventures for the year, we still have a 2022 recap video coming your way soon! And MANY more adventures to come in 2023 after we rest up a bit 🙌🏼🥳
