Yesterday was my 23rd birthday and all I wanted to do to celebrate was relax and eat. We started off the morning by going to a little breakfast spot nearby called Lluvia Deli Bar & Artefacto. It was delicious! We got lattes, waffles, breakfast burritos, and omelettes. Everyone seemed to love their meal and the folks that worked there were nice too. After breakfast we walked across the street to a cool little gift shop that had tons of handmade gifts to purchase.
Our next stop for the day was Luquillo Beach. I had read good things about this beach and was excited to check it out. To get into the beach, each car has to pay $4 and some change, but it is worth it for a clean beach and parking spot (I hear the free side isn’t as clean).
This beach was beautiful! Super clear water and an awesome view of El Yunque. It even had some massive jellyfish in the water, which wasn’t a huge problem because the water was so clear they were easy to see.
We spent a couple hours throwing a ball and frisbee around. I also hadย anotherย one of those sorbets (gotta live it up on vacation right?!). We had such an awesome time at this beach and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Puerto Rico.
After the beach, we headed over to a little surfer bar and grill called Boardriders for a late lunch. It is right across from La Pared beach, which is a big surf spot, and has burgers, salads, wraps, wings, etc. It was super good and hit the spot after running around in the water all day.
Since my birthday was all about eating, our next big adventure was dinner. But before we headed to dinner, we took a quick family photo near the beach. It’s rare that we are all together and looking nice, so we had to capture the moment.
After some quick family photos we headed to Old San Juan for dinner. We took a back way this time and it was so beautiful! We drove by tons of cool beaches while the sun was setting. The spot I picked for dinner was called Pirilo Pizza Rustica. I never eat pizza back home, so I wanted to use my birthday as an excuse to go crazy and have some. We had to wait for over an hour, but the pizza was delicious and well worth it in my opinion. We got three massive pizzas and managed to eat all but 5 slices. Their margherita pizza was the best I have ever had! It had a delicious pesto drizzle on top…so good!
